The Benefits of Combining a Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift

For many years, there was only one realistic option to improve the look of your breasts; implants. Nowadays, however, there are many more options available to improve your breasts’ aesthetics and feel! Some of the most popular breast surgery options include breast augmentation and breast lifts.

What is a Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift (Mastopexy) Surgery?

In simple terms, a breast augmentation mastopexy is a procedure that combines two separate surgeries, a breast lift and breast augmentation, into one all-encompassing procedure for a full breast revitalization.

11Montreal - Benefits of Combining a Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift

What is a Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgical procedure that uses artificial implants to enhance and/or alter the way your breasts look. It is a customizable procedure that takes into consideration your body shape and the look you want to achieve.

Women may choose to have this operation either as a reconstructive technique following breast surgery, to balance different sized breasts, or to enhance the contours of the body. Whatever the specific purpose, women who undergo breast augmentation can expect larger, firmer, and more visually satisfying breasts.

At Dr. Arash Izadpanah’s practice, you can choose from saline and silicone implants. You may also opt to combine the two. On a related note, implant shapes can either be anatomical or round, depending on your preference and body type.

We insert the implants through an incision in the armpits, the crease of your breast, or the perimeter of the areola. The placement of the incisions largely depends on your preferred outcome.

What is a Breast Lift (Mastopexy)?

The goal of breast lift or mastopexy surgery is to restore the shape and firmness of the breasts by removing sagging tissue and repositioning the nipples and surrounding tissue to improve the overall appearance of the breasts. Patients who have nipples that sit below the breast fold or point downwards, have breasts that are asymmetric, and/or breasts that sag or feel droopy will benefit from a breast lift surgery. It removes excess skin on and around the breasts to raise, reshape, and firm up the breasts. Nipples and areolae may be repositioned, and the areolae may also be reduced in size.

It is not uncommon that a patient will need a lift at the same time as their breast augmentation surgery to optimize their result. During your consultation, Dr. Arash Izadpanah will address your concerns, and determine which breast lift technique will provide you with your ideal results.

Can You Get Both Procedures at the Same Time?

There are many instances where, for an individual to achieve their desired appearance, a breast lift or breast augmentation alone will not suffice. For these patients, the specialized procedure of a breast augmentation mastopexy is available so that aspects of breast implants and a breast lift can be combined to satisfy your wants and needs.

If any of the reasons for getting an augmentation or lift apply to you, then a breast augmentation mastopexy could provide you with excellent benefits, including:

  • Enhanced Results
When both surgeries are combined into one, your surgeon will have greater control over your final appearance, meaning there is a greater likelihood you will be pleased with the results. When performing a breast lift and augmentation separately, there is a greater likelihood of surgical complications and less control for the plastic surgeon.
  • Less Scarring
Compared to two individual operations, a breast augmentation mastopexy will have significantly fewer incisions. Fewer incisions mean less harm to your skin, fewer stitches needed, and less scarring. While the risk of scarring will always be present, no matter what the surgery is, the likelihood of significant scarring is greatly decreased with a breast augmentation mastopexy.
  • Shorter Recovery Time
This benefit is quite clear and does not require much explanation. If you were to opt for two separate surgeries for a breast lift and implants, it would require two separate recovery periods. With an augmentation mastopexy, there is only one recovery stage, meaning an overall quicker healing timeline.
  • Less Expensive Than Two Surgeries
There are so many things you can cut down on when opting for one surgery over two separate ones. By combining a lift and augmentation into one, you will be saving valuable time, resources, and energy, all of which will lead to a substantial decrease in costs!
  • Just as Safe, If Not Safer
A breast augmentation mastopexy is just as safe as completing any one surgery and is safer than if choosing to opt for two separate procedures. With two surgeries comes double the chance for something to go wrong. Combining them into one lowers your risk for unintended consequences, meaning a greater likelihood that you will love your results.

Get A Personalized Consultation
As you can see from the above, how long it can take before you should get a mommy makeover depends on the item on your list with the longest waiting time. For example, even if your weight is stabilized at pre-baby levels, if you are still breastfeeding, you will have to wait until you stop. Or, if you are not breastfeeding but other health issues have not been resolved, you will still have to wait until you are healthy.
